INFOLIB-Uzbekistan 2024 XII National Information Library Week and
INFOLIB and Young Librarians Forum IV
October 22, 2024
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is making great efforts to encourage reading among youth, and librarians play a key role in this mission. However, in today’s digital world, where young people are drawn to technology, it takes more than traditional methods to get them interested in reading and using the library. Librarians now need special skills and knowledge to meet these new challenges.
That’s why the XIII National Information-Library Week "INFOLIB UZBEKISTAN-2024" will be held from October 21 to 25, 2024, to nurture the librarians with new insights into library work. The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) of Westminster International University in Tashkent and the National Library of Uzbekistan, named after Alisher Navoi, will host the second day of the conference. This is one of the main events during the week, the IV Young Librarian Forum, taking place on October 22, 2024, at WIUT LRC. This forum is a chance for librarians to share their experiences and learn about the latest trends and improvements in the library world.
This year, the forum will focus on helping librarians improve their communication skills and customer service, create fun and engaging library activities, and understand their users' needs. Workshops, speeches, and training sessions will give librarians practical advice on creating a welcoming and modern library environment.
This event will help librarians learn from experts and each other, supporting the critical role libraries play in improving digital literacy and preparing readers for the challenges of the digital age.
Key Objectives:
- Enhancing Communication Skills:
Librarians will have the opportunity to improve their communication techniques, learning how to create a welcoming and supportive environment that fosters better interactions with library users. - Fostering Teamwork:
The forum will focus on building effective teamwork among librarians, encouraging collaboration to enhance library services and strengthen community ties. - Understanding Customer Behavior:
Participants will gain insights into customer behavior, exploring strategies for understanding the needs and preferences of library visitors in order to offer more tailored services. - Integrating AI in Library Services:
Librarians will learn how to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) tools into library operations, discovering ways AI can enhance user experiences and streamline day-to-day tasks. - Organizing Social Events in Libraries:
The event will also cover techniques for planning and managing social activities that align with the library's mission, helping to engage the community and promote reading books.
