2nd Westminster Doctoral Research Network Workshop

We are excited to announce our “2nd Westminster Doctoral Research Network (WeNeRD)” platform for PhD/DSc candidates and early-career researchers specializing in Management and Economics fields. This two-day workshop aims to bring together PhD candidates and recent PhD graduates from across Uzbekistan and Central Asia Higher Education and Research Institutions, providing a unique opportunity to network, collaborate, share ongoing work and receive critical feedback as well as professional mentorship.
 
WeNeRD will feature various academic sessions, including:
  • Research Presentations: PhD/DSc candidates will have the chance to present their ongoing research findings through poster sessions and oral presentations.
  • Keynote Talks: Renowned academics and scholars will share insights on current trends and methodologies in two broad disciplines “Management” and “Economics”.
  • Seminars & Workshops: Interactive sessions focusing on research methodologies, data analysis and AI use, publishing strategies, early-career mentorship and academic writing.
  • Panel Discussions, Networking & Collaboration Opportunities: A chance to connect with fellow PhD students, faculty members, early-career researchers and industry experts to explore potential research collaborations.

Who Should Attend?

  • PhD/DSc candidates and recent PhD/DSc graduates in Management and Economics from universities and research institutions across Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
  • Participants should submit an extended abstract/research proposal that includes information on the methods and data used and is at least 1000 words.

  • Receive extensive feedback on your on-going research from an assigned mentor.
  • Publication of accepted papers in the Silk Road: A Journal of Eurasian Development (https://silkroadjournal.online/).
  • Participation at the workshop is free of charge and during the day coffee breaks and lunches for all participants during the workshop will be provided.

About WIUT

Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) is the first International University in Uzbekistan and the first of its kind in Central Asia to offer International Higher Education. It is fully recognized by the University of Westminster in London. WIUT has been a member of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) since 2019. The UN SDSN was set up in 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society.
 
WIUT, as a member of the UN SDSN, is fully committed to promoting activities and events and discovering new prospects for the SDGs in Uzbekistan and Globally.

Since its founding in 2002, WIUT scholars and students have engaged in research in Uzbekistan, Central Asia, and throughout the world. Lately, policy reforms have multiplied the need to support the government and private sector decision-making with evidence from solid research. With a strong independent voice, WIUT is the choice of many organizations when they need quality analysis and recommendations. WIUT established the Scientific Council in response to high demand in the labor market of Uzbekistan to researchers and higher education professionals with postgraduate degrees, specifically PhD and DSc.

The Scientific Council at WIUT, numbered 29.06.2019.I.85.01, is a platform where PhD and DSc candidates from local universities may defend their dissertations to get PhD or DSc degrees in Management and Econometrics & Statistics subject area. The Council was approved by the Supreme Attestation Commission (SAC) on 29.06.2019.

Multiple Disciplines

WIUT’s subject areas Business Management, Business Information Systems, Commercial Law, Economics, Finance, Marketing, and Global English provide the primary platform for WIUT`s disciplinary and interdisciplinary research.

PhD and DSc Programmes

Graduate School of Westminster International University in Tashkent offers local Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) and DSc (Doctor of Science) programmes in two disciplines:

- Management (08.00.13)

- Econometrics & Statistics (08.00.06).

These programmes operate based on local (Uzbek) requirements. The mode of study for Ph.D./DSc programmes is both full-time and part-time (as an Independent researcher).

Admission requirements and study at the Graduate School will be based on the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 22, 2017 No. 304 “On Measures to Further Improve the System of Postgraduate Education”.

Supreme Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation is the state body that controls the quality of graduate education and awards graduate degrees (Ph.D. and DSc) in Uzbekistan.
