“Towards the Inclusive University – Widening access in Uzbekistan”

The conference is a joint initiative between the Committee on International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialised Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the British Council in Uzbekistan, Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) and the University of Westminster (UK).

This Conference will address issues related to the further development of inclusive Higher Education in Uzbekistan, the continuous implementation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the identification of key directions, priorities and next steps for the Inclusive University in Uzbekistan.

The Conference themes / streams are the following:
  • Inclusive Higher Education Curriculum
  • Inclusive Higher Education Leadership Development
  • Inclusive Student Support and Skills Development
  • Inclusive Institutional Culture - Access for All
The Conference will specifically look at issues related to women’s empowerment, girls’ education, access to education for people with special educational needs and those representing vulnerable and/or low income families. The conference will have workshops to discuss specific case studies and examples of existing barriers and explore how they can be dealt with in the short and longer term.

The Conference will be delivered in hybrid form and will take place on WIUT’s campus. There will be simultaneous translation in English and Uzbek.

ORGANIZERS

Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) is the first international university in Uzbekistan and first in Central Asia to offer Western education, with United Kingdom (UK) qualifications.
